House debates Bill C-304 in Parliament

Wednesday, the House of Commons debated Bill C-304, for a federal housing strategy, in Parliament.  The debate was quite passionate at times and included speeches from Libby Davies, NDP MP for Vancouver East, Michael Savage, Liberal MP for Dartmouth- Cole Harbour, Peter Julian, NDP MP for Burnaby- New Westminster, and Christian Ouellet, Bloc MP for Brome- Missisquoi. 

Canada Day of Action Preparations Ramping-Up

With less than three weeks left until the Canada Day of Action on October 19th, preparations are ramping-up across Canada from Victoria to St. John’s.  The main action will take place on the lawns of Parliament the morning of Tuesday, October 19th and will culminate in a march to the Prime Minister's Residence .  As well, actions in solidarity are being planned in a number of Canadian cities, including Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Halifax, Moncton and St.

After a long summer vacation, Members of Parliament have headed back to work for the Fall Session of Parliament.  While the long-gun registry is the hot-button issue this week, Bill C-304, the Private members’ bill drafted by Vancouver- East NDP MP Libby Davies, is slated for a third reading debate in Parliament on October 20th.  However, homelessness and a lack of affordable housing don’t even seem to be on the House of Commons’ radar.  In a
